James: This is based on a story by :mendras-terol:. ...Ryan laid in bed in the next room, chewing a stray bit of blonde hair uneasily, listening to his best friends worry. He looked down at the sleeping figure cuddled against his chest. Instinctively he wrapped his arm a little closer around his lover, feeling suddenly, desperately tense. He leaned his head against the man’s gently muscled shoulder, thinking.
He and Orlando had been together for over a year and a half and had been seriously discussing marriage, though it would mean moving out of state. His parents still didn’t know anything about it, and he hoped they never would. Orlando simply hoped they would understand when the time came. With a soft sigh, Ryan nuzzled his face into Orlando’s dark hair, breathing in his spicy scent. The feel of his lover’s smooth body and the familiar softness of Orlando’s favorite silk pajama pants was comforting, but the reality of the situation would not be denied. They were living on borrowed time. Sooner or later, they would have to come clean with their families and let the pieces fall where they may. Alex and Lana were about to just that. They were getting married, without question. But would anyone attend?
Ryan knew how much it meant to Orlando that his parents attend his future wedding and the idea that they might refuse to do so worried him endlessly. Ryan had tried once to broach the subject with them by discussing the upcoming wedding of his friends, but had quickly dropped the subject after a ferocious wave of obscenities and nasty names resulted. He would keep trying though, no matter how many times he was shot down. Their acceptance was important to the man he loved, which made it important to him. He would make them understand…. somehow.

As the sun slowly rose over the horizon and light began to filter weakly through the thin white curtains, he imagined they were all thinking the same thing:
Why?...

Hmm, I like this. It's a shame though that the lack of acceptance of such matters isn't fictional. Stupid society, why can't it just let people be happy?
